The story
Syllafall is a word game made by one web developer, Will, on evenings and weekends over about a year. There's no studio or publisher behind it and it took no funding. It was made for phones from the start, because a daily puzzle is something you play with a coffee in your hand.
It's free, with no adverts and nothing to buy, and that won't change after launch. A round is 90 seconds; an advert in the middle of it would be a third as long as the game. There is a shop, and it only takes coins you earn by playing.
Everyone who plays on a given day gets the same board, generated from one server seed. To keep the scores honest, the phone doesn't send a score at all. It sends the moves, and the server replays the whole game to check the result. A score that doesn't match never reaches the leaderboard.
